Meet Our Family
Mrs. Sunita Owner/Director/Primary Lead Teacher
Mrs. Sunita brings more than 15 years of childcare experience from the Austin market encompassing roles as an Owner, Director, and Lead Teacher from some of the most reputable and successful Montessori schools in Austin. Prior to entering the childcare industry, she first received a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Communications from The University of Texas at Austin, which was followed by obtaining an AMS Montessori certification in Primary education from the Montessori Teacher Education Institute in Houston. In 2016, Mrs. Sunita also obtained a Child Development Associates certification from the Council for Professional Recognition. Her husband, Anu, is also a graduate from the University of Texas, but his roots began in Bryan/College Station as he is a proud graduate of A&M Consolidated High School, and his family has resided in B/CS for more than 25 years. In 2012, they became the proud parents of their son, Syen, and in 2015, they welcomed their daughter Iyla. The privilege of becoming parents only heightened their passion for caring for and developing children and incorporating the Montessori method. Mrs. Sunita's interest for the Montessori education first peaked in 2007 after meeting Ms. Lydia Cumings, the previous and proud owner of The Montessori Schoolhouse here in BCS. Ms. Lydia had taught and nurtured many of their family friends in this town and fostered an environment based on intimacy, education, and collaboration. Inspired by this notion and coupled with her own experiences in the Austin market, Mrs. Sunita and her husband are proud to be the owners of The Family Montessori of BCS. "With an excitement for teaching and a love for children, I enjoy guiding children through their daily academic journey. I truly believe children are brilliant, curious little sponges, who can soak up so much information." "Working in the Montessori classroom has taught me that lessons should be interesting and thought-provoking; also, I believe that education can be stress-free if children are given love, patience, and support. Therefore, I strive to make my teaching as engaging and fun as possible to captivate and encourage children. If children are happy and having a good time learning, their success in the academic realm will come naturally."
Mrs. Ary is originally from Fort Collins, Colorado. Mrs. Ary’s background and childhood instilled a passion in her for at-risk youth as well as helping children and adults with disabilities. Following that passion, she became a first-generation student at the University of New Mexico where she received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Family Child Studies. Over the years, Mrs. Ary has worked as a nanny, a church volunteer, and lead various service organizations including a program abroad in Guatemala. She has worked mainly with adults and children with developmental and physical disabilities whether it be volunteer work or as a Behavioral Therapist. While she loved and enjoyed that field, she decided to follow her passion for teaching. During her time in Albuquerque, New Mexico- Mrs. Ary was introduced to the Montessori philosophy. She fell in love with the practice of respecting and nurturing children’s natural desires to learn and explore. When Mrs. Ary and her husband moved to Texas in 2021, she began looking for a school to work at that would feel like family! She has found exactly that with The Family Montessori and is excited to learn more about Montessori. She will be working towards obtaining her Montessori Certification in 2023. “My goal in life is to meet people where they are at. I aim to be a safe place for kids and adults from all different walks of life. Teaching allows me to do just that and have fun at the same time! Maya Angelou said, ‘People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel’.”
Ms. Amanda brings over 10 years of teaching Montessori to our school. She was born and raised in the Bryan area. A few years after graduating from Bryan High School, she started working at a local pre-school. There, she was introduced to Maria Montessori’s wonderful method and immediately fell in love. She has been in childcare ever since. Ms. Amanda has 3 beautiful children, Jude, Penelope, and Jack. Becoming a mom has been the greatest joy of her life. She is currently attending Blinn where she is studying to become an Occupational Therapist. Her love for helping and caring for people of all ages has greatly encouraged her to follow this career path. “When the toddlers run up and give me a big hug, and I see their little faces light up when I walk in the room, it makes my heart so happy. Knowing I am a part of their happiness and growth is one of the best feelings!”
Ms. Jada, the oldest of six, is originally from Oklahoma. She moved to College Station in 2015 to pursue her degree in Chemical Engineering. Growing up, she volunteered in church childcare centers and babysat periodically. Two of Ms. Jada’s six siblings are on the Spectrum. Seeing the impact Montessori has had for one of those younger siblings was what brought her to The Family Montessori. She loves how the Montessori method instills confidence, kindness, and a natural desire to learn. “We must help the child to act for himself, will for himself, think for himself; this is the art of those who aspire to serve the spirit” – Maria Montessori
Lead Toddler Teacher
Ms. Zoe was raised in a military family, so she has lived many different places. She has three siblings and has been part of our TFM family for over a year now- ever since she moved to Bryan, Texas! Ms. Zoe loves to work with children and is excited to be a part of their growth, development, education, and to help build their independence. Ms. Zoe is creative, an adventure enthusiast, and loves to bring fun and music into the classroom! "There is nothing more satisfying than to inspire students to open their minds."
Lead Toddler Teacher
Ms. Lily is originally from Karnes City, TX. Ms. Lily comes from a family of teachers and knew from a very young age that she wanted to work in childcare. She recently graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in University Studies-Child Professional Services and a minor in Sociology and Creative Studies. She learned about Maria Montessori's method in class and instantly fell in love. Over the years she has worked as a daycare teacher and nanny, as well as helping with children's programs within her church. Ms. Lily's family has a lot of new little ones and she loves going home and helping her sisters and cousins implement Montessori practices with their kids. She loves how the Montessori method gives children confidence, independence, and respect for the environment and those around them. Ms. Lily is going to be working towards becoming Montessori certified in 2023. "My passion in life is to impact my students' lives and be able to watch them grow into amazing and smart little kids. Teaching brings me so much joy and seeing happiness in the kid's eyes makes every day a great day!"

Ms. Kayla Farson
Ms. Kayla was born to two Marines in Virginia. She has lived all over the United States before growing roots in Texas in 2018. She was the first person in her tiny family to go to college! She graduated as a first-generation student with a degree in Special Education from Texas A&M University. During her time in college, she taught in a typical 2nd grade classroom, a 7-8th grade self-contained room, and a K-5th Resource and Dyslexia room. She also has experience as an RBT working with young children with Autism. Her time in varying types of classrooms have given her many ideas and skills that she now brings to our family here at TFM. Ms. Kayla loves working with children because it gives her the opportunity to fulfil the “guiding older sister role” she always dreamed of. She has wanted to be a teacher since she was in elementary school and is so excited to do so here at TFM! “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Ms. Jazmine is orginally from Dallas, Texas. She is a recent 2022 Highschool graduate with a passion to help change our world for the better. TFM is her first childcare experience apart from babysitting and volunterring in her church daycare. Ms. Jazmine is passionate about teaching and caretaking. She loves the idea that we are raising up future leaders! She is grateful for this opportunity to learn new skills and get a chance to love on the kiddos. Mrs. Sang Min
Mrs. Sang Min and her husband recently moved to the United States from Korea and Japan so her husband could begin a new career at Texas A&M. Mrs. Sang Min holds her Pharm.D. degree from a university in India. With her background of traveling and world experience, we are so appreciative of the ways she has helped to enrich our school. She has a natural passion to love and nurture kids and is excited to learn and grow as a teacher. Her and her husband are excited to begin their own family in 2023 as they will be welcoming their own little one into the world. "My favorite part of the day is when the kids welcome me in the morning. It makes me feel so loved and happy. I am grateful to be part of their individual learning journeys!"
Ms. Theresa Filkins
Ms. Theresa is originally from Houston, Texas. Her goal as a teacher is to help all students be the best they can be and instill the confidence everyone deserves to have in themselves. She has babysat/nannied for many families in the past and enjoyed her experience with different age groups. She loves to help children grow into amazing and beautiful people. Ms. Theresa has a three-year-old baby brother who has Down Syndrome. She loves him unconditionally and has working through many challenges with him but never saw him as anything less than everything. She is aware of all the different developmental delays that can be exhibited in children. She exemplifies patience and kindness and truly enjoys working with children on their individual paths.
